At the April 7 edition of the monthly nighttime community event Georgefest, “April Fool’s George” will celebrate indie rock on Main Stage, fine art, food trucks and fun.

Main Stage

Opening at the Main Stage Free Concert will be singer/songwriter Josh Larsen. A St. George resident and longtime local favorite, Larsen has been crafting original material since he first taught himself to play guitar at the age of 16. Larsen’s musical style is influenced by a diverse collection of artists, from Keith Urban to Michael Buble, along with Ray Charles and Josh Groban. Larsen’s acoustic mastery will be on display beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Salt Lake City-based Vintage Overdrive will then headline on Main Stage beginning at 8:30 p.m. An original rock and blues band, the five-member group features melodic vocals complemented by dynamic bass, percussion, and rhythm and lead guitar. Performing selections from their upcoming EP, “Love Will Conquer Fear,” the band will demonstrate why they are earning a reputation as one of the most formidable rock projects in the Salt Lake Valley.

Jazz Garden

Mr. CP’s Jazz Band will hold court in the Jazz Garden presented by The Desert Pulse at Green Gate Village. Led by journeyman string bassist Carlyle Potter, the band gets things swinging at 6:30 p.m. with a tribute to legendary musicians Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Then at 9 p.m., several of the areas finest jazz musicians will stop by the Garden to take part in a special VIP jam session. Cool jazz and hot improvisations will last until 10:30 p.m., with the Jazz Garden remaining open until midnight. While enjoying smooth tunes, those 21+ can samples craft brews from Wasatch Brewery and Squatters, b
outique wines from IG Winery, tapas from Kanab’s Sego Restaurant, and an array of specialty sodas.

Georgefest, a nightlife event designed to celebrate the best of southern Utah, is held on the first Friday of every month from 6-10 p.m., with the Jazz Garden at Green Gate Village open until midnight April–October.

The event is sponsored by the City of St. George, St. George Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Canyon Media, St. George News, Etched Magazine, The Independent, The Desert Pulse, Iron Gate Winery and Wasatch Brewery.
